Update May 27, 2010

"First, I want to congratulate the Hitmen on a great season despite losing in overtime to the Brandon Wheat Kings in the semi-final of the Memorial Cup. It was such a thrill for me to plant my lips on the Ed Chynoweth trophy when they won the WHL championship. Much like back in 99' when some jerk playing for the Ottawa 67's sucker-shot Brad Stuart, who then couldn't play because of a severe concussion in the final of which we barely lost in overtime, I can't help but wonder how much different things might have gone if the jerk off Tri City American player hadn't slashed our best player Brandon Kozan across the ankle in the WHL final round, which very likely effected everything. To cheap-shot second-rate players like that, all I can say is what goes around comes around. Although we've come close in 15 years to winning the Memorial Cup twice, I know that one of these days, we'll finally drink from the silver cup. I also want to thank all the Hitmen players for letting me play a small part in their terrific season. As far as NHL hockey went, after the Calgary Flames missed the playoffs, I threw my support behind the Montreal Canadiens and the San Jose Sharks. As it turns out, the hockey gods weren't with me this season and now, with the Blackhawks facing the Flyers in the Stanley Cup final after being so wrong with my picks, I'm going on record to say the Chicago Blackhawks will be the next Stanley Cup champions.

My life took an interesting turn this week when I decided to forfeit the United States championship for the simple reason that at this point in my life, I'm in no position to defend it on a regular basis (and God knows a host of other reasons) but it was a beautiful moment all the same. So when the WWE offered me the chance to become the new general manager of Raw, I jumped at the opportunity. I expect this will be one of the most interesting job titles I've ever had and I can assure all my WWE fans that I will do my best to be the most interesting and creative GM since the inception of general managers. As a note of interest, I'd like to say how proud I've been of Vicki Guerrero the last couple of years for doing the amazing job she's done playing this role on Smackdown. I'm only learning it after one week that's it's a much more challenging role than people might realize and I can only hope to do as good of a job as she did.

Last, but certainly not least, I do have some engagement news to tell everyone. My loyal pug, Jojo, has found the love of his life with my daughter Beans' dog, Dim Sum (don't ask me to explain the name!). I can tell by the skip in his jump that it's true love, and that can't be anything but good. Love is in the air, my friends." -Bret
